Donahue oversees the component of the project which focuses on postoperative
atrial fibrillation following cardiopulmonary bypass. This investigation
involves data management from a large genetic repository known as
the Vanderbilt Cardiac Surgery Registry.
His research interests include genetic variability
of the coagulation system and its impact on clinical outcomes, with
focus on polymorphisms of the extrinsic pathway, platelet glycoproteins,
and factor V. He is also studying the role of tissue factor pathway
inhibitor in cardiopulmonary bypass.
