Dr. Marylyn Ritchie is one of the co-investigators in the project. Her contributions include the computational biology and biostatistics components of the initiative.

Her research approach is based on human health as a complex adaptive system. That is, there are many agents (e.g. genes and environmental factors) that interact in a nonlinear manner through time and space to determine an individual's susceptibility to disease.

Dr. Ritchie's primary research focus is the detection of suseptibility genes for common disease such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease, among others. The approaches involves the development and application of new statistical methods with a focus on the detection of gene-gene interactions associated with human disease.
